An opportunity has arisen for an experienced part-time social worker to join our multi-professional CAMHS inpatient team based at Snowsfields Adolescent Unit, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust National Services. We offer assessment and treatment for young people aged 12-18yrs with serious mental health problems including significant mood disorders, neurodevelopmental and early onset psychosis.

As the ward social worker you will provide a high quality social work service to young people with complex mental health problems and their carers. You will be closely supervised by the highly experienced team manager. Duties include working closely with the unit staff team in contributing to the assessment, treatment and care planning for young people on the unit, discharge planning and liaison with local authorities and community services for complex cases. You will provide a leading safeguarding role in conjunction with multi-disciplinary colleagues and in liaison with local services.

You will be part of a well-established, experienced and supportive team of social workers employed in inpatient CAMHS, providing a social work service and cover where required.

The role provides multiple opportunities for personal development within the field of CAMHS.

We require a qualified, HCPC registered social worker for this full time CAMHS inpatient social worker post. You will have substantial knowledge of safeguarding children and young people and experience of working with children and young people with emotional / mental health difficulties and or complex needs in CAMHS or statutory settings.

You will have an interest in developing your skills in a CAMHS inpatient setting and be committed to delivering excellent child and family centred care with an ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

This post is part-time, 22.00 hours per week and fixed term contract (initially until December 2019)
