An opportunity has arisen for an experienced full-time social worker to join an established team providing a social work service to our CAMHS inpatient units based at Bethlem Royal Hospital, South London and Maudsley, National Specialist services. You will work as part of a multi-professional CAMHS inpatient team in either our Children’s unit, adolescent psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) or general adolescent unit all of which offer a specialist inpatient assessment and treatment for children and young people with severe emotional and behavioural disorders including neurodevelopmental and early onset psychosis.
As a ward social worker you will provide a high quality social work service to children and young people with complex mental health problems and their carers. Duties include working closely with the unit staff team in contributing to the assessment, treatment and care planning for children residing on the unit, discharge planning and liaison with local authorities and community services for complex cases and leading in working with the team and with local authorities in managing and responding to cases where child protection concerns are identified.
You will be part of a well-established, experienced and supportive team of social workers employed in inpatient CAMHS, providing a social work service and cover where required.
The role will provide multiple opportunities for personal development within the field of CAMHS.
We require a qualified, HCPC registered social worker for this full time CAMHS inpatient social worker post. You will have substantial knowledge of safeguarding children and young people and experience of working with children and young people with emotional / mental health difficulties and or complex needs in CAMHS or statutory settings.
You will have an interest in developing your skills in a CAMHS inpatient setting and be committed to delivering excellent child and family centred care with an ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
