The role
To provide a comprehensive, effective, integrated social work service to children, young people, their families and carers within the South London and Maudsley, National and Specialist, CAMHS inpatient service.
To work closely with and be an active and vital member of the multi-disciplinary team and CAMHS inpatient social work team using knowledge and skills to support and advise colleagues in relation to children’s social care, safeguarding needs and mental health legislative guidance.
To liaise with, advise and support a range of regional and national external and partnership agencies both voluntary and statutory, in relation to the services provided by CAMHS and in working to promote and safeguard the needs of children and young people.
To deliver these services in accordance with current legislation, Local Authority and Trust policies and procedures.
To work collaboratively with the CAMHS social work team, supporting the development of best practice and confident practitioners through coaching and mentoring of students and less experienced practitioners.
To fulfil statutory and other requirements of a local authority employed social worker as and when appropriate.
Due to the specialist nature of the role, candidates will require combined extensive knowledge and experience of both the work of children’s social care and child and adolescent mental health services with a sound in-depth knowledge of child care and mental health legislation.
