Act Up / Secondment Opportunity - 6 Months

Due to a retirement we have a vacancy for the role of Business Unit Manager within Regulatory Services.

We are seeking applications for a formal secondment or fixed term Act Up opportunity into the Neighbourhood Nuisance unit to act as a Business Unit Manager for 6 months.

Key to this role is leading and managing the officers of the unit, providing strategic direction and professional and technical guidance. You will provide expert advice at lead member briefings, Scrutiny Commissions, Cabinet and other decision making bodies, steering groups and panels, offering high level “expert” advice to members, chief officers and departments as to the law on matters relating to the work of the unit / service. The post holder formally reports to the Head of Regulatory Services. 

This Act up / Secondment approach is being taken to:

- Allow the new Head of Regulatory Services time to settle in, so that they can be involved in the recruitment process to fill the post permanently

- Ensure that this important post within Regulatory Services does not remain unfilled for a prolonged period of time

- Ensure balanced workloads and stability within the Regulatory Services Management Team in a period of change

- Offer a development opportunity to those in the council who wish to develop their leadership skills in this exciting and important role – or to simply have a friendly test interview at this level of management - all applicants will receive dedicated feedback.

Please note:

- This role is internally only. We can only consider applications from internal candidates that are current employees or agency workers on an active assignment.

- This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
