As the Building Safety Manager you will be responsible, working with the Senior Building Safety Manager, to ensure that Southwark as the Principal Accountable Person is complying with the duties of the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and statutory compliance, ensuring there is a systemic approach for managing building safety for our high-rise buildings.
This role will also coordinate access to quality information related to the development and maintenance of the Building Safety Case and Safety Case Reports, Building Assurance Certificates for high-rise buildings, and support training for stakeholders.
About You:
We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in building safety compliance, a deep understanding of the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and Duty of Care, and practical experience in managing building safety.
A degree or diploma in construction or fire safety is required, and membership in professional organisations like RICS, IFE, IFSM, IOSH, IIRSM, or CQI is preferred. The role requires problem-solving skills, the ability to influence others positively, and excellent communication skills. Compliance with the Council’s Equal Opportunities policy, ability to travel to various sites, and flexibility in working hours are also needed.
