The Role:

Southwark Housing Solutions Service has an Assistant Housing Choice Officer vacancy. Southwark is a diverse borough that has a high demand for housing.

The Assistant Housing Choice officers will be developed in all areas of Housing solutions including Customer services, carrying out assessments of need and making decisions on applications and working with partner agencies to widen access to housing and promote alternative housing options for vulnerable and at risk residents. You will be trained to understand and apply housing legislation, and given techniques to manage competing priorities.

The purpose of this position is to provide a range of customer focused outcomes for vulnerable residents in housing needs, and work to help others to navigate Southwark's housing allocations scheme. This will include using skills to administer social welfare panels, making enquiries to assist residents, developing information to help residents make informed choices about housing, promoting partnership working to meet the needs of residents, responding to enquiries and assessing housing needs in line with the Councils’ statutory duties under Housing Act 1996 Part 6.

About You:

You will need to show that customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything you do.
The role will involve you managing a caseload of assessments, being able to draft legally binding letters to a high standard, advising customers how to resolve their housing difficulties and working in partnership with key stakeholders.
