The Role:

Orient Street Short Breaks Respite Service is for children and adults with learning disabilities. It provides a safe, caring and stimulating living environment for children and young people with learning disabilities. As an Apprentice Support Worker your focus will be on providing person centered support in a safe and caring environment while also offering opportunities for resident’s to maximise their independence and engage in ordinary living and community life. This is a fantastic opportunity for  people first entering social care or as a career change.

You will:

  • Undertake and pass the Level 4 Children’s Young People’s and Family Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard after completing your probation.
  • Work as part of a team to provide person centred support in line with the individuals care and support plan this may include personal care such as supporting people to wash, bathe, dress, with eating and attending to toileting needs in an empowering and respectful and will undertake manual handling duties as required in accordance with individual care plans.
  • Act as a key worker to clients as directed by senior staff, to liaise and maintain communication with carers, and other professionals within the Department and with external agencies.
  • Maintain and update records including risk assessments, handling plans and management plans in an accurate and timely manner (paper and electronic) to support clients’ wellbeing and ensure clear handover and communication with colleagues and manager

About You:

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic and willing to learn and will always work in a person centred way to join our team as a Apprentice Residential Support Worker.

Your work shift pattern will require you to work on average 36 hours a week over 5 days typically working shifts which are either 7:00 to 15:00 or 14:00 to 22:00 on a rolling rota. The rota pattern and shift times are subject to change.

Post holders will complete a Level 4 Children’s Young People’s and Family Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard.
