About the Team

At Southwark Council, our commitment to protecting the community extends beyond physical boundaries—we're safeguarding the digital landscapes that support our vital services. Within our Commissioning department, the Applications and Technology team is dedicated to ensuring the security and seamless operation of our Adult and Children’s case management systems. We're a close-knit team of experts passionate about defending sensitive data and maintaining uninterrupted system operations. Now, we're looking for a dedicated professional to join us as an Applications Analyst - Systems Security.

About the Role

As the System Security Officer (SSO), you'll be at the helm of our information security efforts, shaping the strategies that protect our critical systems. Your role will be central to:

- Strategic Security Management: Lead the development and enforcement of security standards, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring our systems remain impervious to accidental or intentional threats.

- Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery: Spearhead our business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives, guaranteeing our systems' resilience and reliability in the face of unforeseen challenges.

- Risk Assessment and Policy Development: Identify vulnerabilities, design comprehensive security policies, and conduct thorough risk assessments to minimise threats and maintain system integrity.

- Security Awareness and Training: Educate and empower our team with the knowledge and tools to uphold a secure environment, fostering a culture of security across the organisation.

- System Analysis and Improvement: Review and evaluate security products, making informed recommendations that meet the evolving needs of our client community.

Additionally, you'll develop and maintain PowerApp applications, ensuring they not only meet security standards but also drive operational efficiency across our services.

We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional who is ready to take on this crucial role:

- Technical Expertise: You bring strong technical knowledge of key systems like Capita One, Mosaic, and Synergy, or have specialist skills in relevant application fields.

- Security Certifications: Holding certifications such as CISSP, PMP, or ITIL Foundation will set you apart, reflecting your dedication to maintaining top-tier security standards.

- Analytical and Organisational Prowess: Your outstanding troubleshooting and organisational skills enable you to craft and implement complex security measures effectively.

- Collaborative and Communicative: You're a team player who can explain IT concepts in clear terms, build strong relationships, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

- Commitment to Excellence: You continuously seek to enhance your contribution and stay ahead in the fast-paced world of IT security through ongoing professional development.
