The role

Waste and Cleaning currently have 1 secondment opportunity for a Grounds maintenance team leader, based in the South of the Borough, this role entails day to day monitoring and operational duties we are contracted to undertake.

The successful candidates will be responsible for a team of 4 grounds maintenance operatives, ensuring they have all of the correct equipment to carry out their daily tasks, arrange cover for staff absence, ensure works are completed to our current contractual standards and deputise for the Area supervisor when required.

Key duties and responsibilities of the role:

  • To have responsibility for the supervision and training of team members
  • To ensure that the instructions of the Area Manager and Supervisor are carried out and undertake the necessary administrative tasks
  • To carry out all gardening tasks required for the job, having gained a recognised qualification and/or suitable years experience
  • To undertake all grass maintenance operations as necessary
  • To follow all procedures relevant to maintaining the security of Council property as directed
  • To clean, maintain and store all cleaning equipment and materials as directed and to report all defective equipment and materials to the Supervisor

About You:

You will have experience within a grounds maintenance environment and a current clean driving licence is essential for this post, a willingness to undertake additional duties if required, after any relevant training and the ability to be able to adapt to situations quickly and report back to the Area cleaning Supervisor
