The Role:
As the Highway Authority, Southwark Council, is responsible for the statutory co-ordination of all street works and road works carried out on its road network. This we undertake in accordance to the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004.
We are looking for an exceptional person with strong organisational and communication skills.
Your role will be to manage a team of specialist staff. The team’s role is to ensure the effective statutory co ordination of all works that impact the highway. This must be done safety: with minimal inconvenience and protect the structure of the street and the apparatus within it, whilst balancing the needs of both Statutory Undertakers and the Highway Authority.
You will also be required to manage a pool of Network Inspectors and ensure the day to day delivery of the inspection regime for the monitoring of street and road works
About You:
The successful should have experience in the following:
- Experience of team management and delivery of the street works service within the legal framework
- Experience of managing complex budgets and multiple income streams effectively
- Experience of developing and successfully delivering works programs for street works delivery
- Experience of developing suitable proposals for management of major events affecting the highways network.
- Ability to lead and motivate staff, to act as a coach and mentor, and to provide strategic direction to the workgroup.
Additional Information:
The successful should have a City & Guilds or Lantra qualification in Supervision of Street Works, or relevant experience
