The Role:
The Public Health division are looking to recruit to this position to support the Southwark Holiday Programme. Whilst the programme delivers in holiday time this role is a full time roles and is being offered on a fixed term basis until end March 2025.
The Southwark Holiday Food and Fun programme has secured three years of funding from the DfE Holiday Activity Fund (HAF) till March 2025. This holiday provision aims to support children eligible for free school meals with nutritious meals and activities over the main school holidays. Currently the programme provides support to approximately 4000 children over a year, and has worked with over 40 different holiday clubs across the borough to ensure a varied, accessible and high quality programme offer.
Excellent partnership working skills are required for this role, managing a large network of providers and a diverse range of partners and stakeholders. Working in a fast paced complex political, outcomes oriented and frequently challenging environment, the focus is on the delivery and management of a programme with multiple stakeholders and dimensions to high expectations within tight timescales. A strong commitment to addressing the wider determinants of health and to tackle health inequalities is expected.
The Southwark Public Health Team are well regarded for our role in mentoring and supporting staff to advance their Public Health careers, such as towards Public Health Training Scheme or promotion within the sector.
The post holder will be accountable to the Public Health Head of Programmes for Healthy Place, and report to the Holiday Programme Officer.
The post holder will coordinate and provide support to the Southwark Holiday Provision Network, supporting local partnership working and ensuring that holiday provision in Southwark is well coordinated. The post holder will contribute to a number of internal processes to support the smooth delivery of the programme, such as finance administration, grants process, procurement, quality assurance, communications and promotion, and monitoring.
This role will involve working with other members of the Public Health Division, wider council and local providers including VCS organisations, in providing a programme of holiday clubs across Southwark for children entitled to Free School Meals. The programme offers low income families a much valued service that provides access to a nutritious meal, as well as fun healthy and social activities during the holidays.
About You:
You must have a relevant higher education qualification at degree level and/or a good record of personal responsibility and achievement in delivering relevant projects or programmes.
You will have experience of co-ordinating stakeholders, managing complex data, and managing quality assurance processes.
Your skills will include excellent communication, partnership, analytical and report writing.
You will be highly organised and be comfortable working within a reactive environment.
