The role

The Adoption London South – Regional Adoption Agency

We are looking for a Business Support Officer to join our service to improve outcomes in adoption. At Adopt London South, our focus is to make a difference to South London children! Our service is hosted by Southwark offering adoption services across nine boroughs Croydon; Lambeth, Lewisham; Merton, Sutton, Wandsworth and Richmond & Kingston.  We work in partnership with ‘We are Family’, PACUK, Inter Country Adoption, New Family Social and therapists offering advice to families. New services are being planned for birth parents. The adoptlondon.org.uk website provides information to enquirers and everyone affected by adoption.

The role is be based at Tooley Street, covering the South West area of London, but currently working, mostly remotely across the nine boroughs that form Adopt London South. There is some expectation in the role to travel to meetings in the South West region from time to time.

The Role

As a Business support Officer, we are looking for people with people who can, act as a first point of contact with customers, liaise independently with a number of professionals and deal with confidential matters within timescales.  The Service will rely on Business Support to track, monitor and run things smoothly, so your contribution is valued.  This will require acting on your initiative, being pro-active and working as part of a Team. 

What are we looking for:-

  • Sound administrative and communication skills
  • Awareness of, and sensitivity to, the needs of vulnerable children and their families
  • Ability to collect/analyse data
  • Proactive communication with a range of different audiences
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports
  • A commitment to equal rights to adoption for all children and families who use ALS services and to reduce delay for Black children who wait longer
  • Minute taking
  • Experience in using Case Management systems
  • Managing competing demands and prioritising work load
  • Skills/knowledge in Microsoft Office packages (excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office 365)

The post holder will need to support teams across the Adopt London Service, so experience in administration support is vital and includes taking enquiries relating to all aspects of adoption.
