The Role:
The Planning Policy Team at Southwark Council are looking for a policy specialist with a passion for affordable housing and affordable workspace. The key workstreams of this new role includes:
- Delivering a new Affordable Housing and Viability SPD
- Delivering a new Section 106 and CIL SPD
- Deliver a Local Plan Early Review on Town Centres
- Responsible for Authority Monitoring Reports
- Responsible for housing delivery monitoring, five and fifteen year land supply and the Housing Delivery Test
- Leading on policy implementation, evidence base and advice for the following policy areas:
*Housing and affordable housing
*Affordable workspace
*Offices, retail and industrial uses
*Community and health
*Viability
This role is an opportunity for someone to lead on finding ways to increase housing and workspace delivery and particularly affordable housing and workspace delivery through policy, and working with the Council and developer regeneration teams to find solutions and new ways of building the most carbon efficient developments to tackle the climate emergency.
About You:
The Planning Policy Team Leader will have a team of planners, graduates and apprentices to supervise who are all very enthusiastic about improving Southwark as a place for our residents and businesses. You will need to report to senior officers and members and you will need to liaise with the GLA and Central Government responding to new initiatives and policy, and finding ways to enable them to work effectively at Southwark.
The Planning Policy Team is part of the Policy, Building Control and the Historic Environment team. This team provides specialist advice on planning applications, prepares policy and strategy to guide development and monitors change and improvements. This team is part of the Planning and Growth Division which leads on sustainable change and growth in Southwark.
